Blümel: “Will help quickly and directly” With a single form sheet, affected companies can apply for tax relief

Vienna (OTS) – In order to provide optimal support to Austrian companies affected by the coronavirus in these difficult times, the Ministry of Finance has developed a combined form sheet that makes it easy to apply for all tax relief. Companies can fill this out and then either send it to the mailbox or upload it via FinanzOnline.

“It is important to me to ensure liquidity within the companies in order to secure the jobs of Austrians. We will therefore do everything within our power to help quickly and unbureaucratically,” said Finance Minister Gernot Blümel.

Using the new form sheet “Combined request for special arrangements pertaining to coronavirus,” affected companies can apply for the following tax relief:

  • Reduction of advance payments

In order to improve liquidity of the companies, they can have the advance payments of income or corporate tax reduced down to zero.

  • Waiver of arrears interest

If a subsequent tax claim results from an income or corporate income tax assessment notice, arrears interest will be charged on such subsequent claims. These can be waived for affected companies

  • Payment facilitation

The date of payment of a duty may be postponed, or payment in instalments may be agreed.

  • Waiver or reduction of late payment surcharges

A late payment surcharge is normally payable for a tax debt not paid by the due date. Companies can have this reduced or request the interest to be waived.

“With these measures, we want to support all those who have been hit particularly severely by this crisis. Our companies are the basis for prosperity in our country. They need sufficient money to cover their fixed costs and thus keep their staff in employment,” emphasises Blümel.
