Ageing Report 2024
Every three years long-term projections of age-related expenditure items (pensions, health care, long-term care and education) are being estimated at the EU level. This is known as the “Ageing Report” (AR). The AR 2024 was published on 18 April 2024.
Based on a mandate from the Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN Council) the Economic Policy Committee’s Working Group on Ageing Populations and Sustainability (EPC-AWG) and the Commission services (Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs; DG ECFIN) produce long-term projections of age-related expenditures (pensions, health care, long-term care and education) as part of the Ageing Report (AR). These projections feed into a variety of policy debates and processes at the European Union (EU) level, e.g. the European Semester.
