Location of Goods Corridor – Entry

The Location of Goods Corridor – Entry serves the purpose of customs supervision for the transport of goods in commercial freight traffic from Switzerland or the Principality of Liechtenstein to the approved locations in Vorarlberg.

A means of transport registered for the Location of Goods Corridor – Entry may carry other goods in addition to imported goods, provided these are specified in the pre-notification and are subject to one of the following customs procedures:

  • CH export clearances
  • Goods under the Swiss transit procedure
  • Goods under the ATA procedure (ATA Carnet, eATA)

If the certification of documents is required, this must be mandatory specified in the pre-notification.

The process flow of a Location of Goods Corridor – Entry is shown in the graphic below:

Explanations of the Process Steps

  1. The IT system of the economic operator in Switzerland/Liechtenstein sends a transport notification (if not already available) to the Swiss customs IT system and receives an electronic message in response.
  2. The IT system of the economic operator in Switzerland/Liechtenstein sends a corridor pre-notification (entry) "IEATBT01", including any intended document certifications at the border customs office, to Smart Border Austria.
  3. To confirm the successful corridor pre-notification and the creation of a new business case (border transaction), Smart Border Austria sends a corridor confirmation (entry) "IEATBT02" and the Customs Border Entry Document (GZS-ES).
  4. The economic operator in Switzerland/Liechtenstein prints out the Customs Border Entry Document (GZS-ES). This is handed over to the driver of the means of transport, who then proceeds to the Austrian border customs office.
  5. The border crossing at entry is recorded digitally in Smart Border Austria.
  6. Smart Border Austria sends the electronic message "border crossing confirmation (entry)" "IEATBT03" to the IT system of the economic operator in Switzerland/Liechtenstein.
  7. The means of transport is now in the corridor and proceeds immediately to the approved location.
  8. The IT system of the economic operator in Vorarlberg reports the arrival of the means of transport at the approved location or the Wolfurt customs office using the electronic message "arrival notification" (IEATBT04).
  9. Smart Border Austria confirms the arrival of the means of transport via the electronic message "arrival confirmation" (IEATBT05) and closes the business case (border transaction).
  10. The IT system of the economic operator in Vorarlberg is now authorised to submit customs declarations for the goods transported in corridor traffic.

Cancellation and Special Notes

  • Cancellation: A business case can only be cancelled as long as no border crossing has taken place. The economic operator's IT system sends a cancellation message "IEATBT90" to Smart Border Austria. As confirmation, Smart Border Austria sends a cancellation confirmation "IEATBT91".
  • Location Requirement: In the case of the Location of Goods Corridor – Entry, the means of transport must be at the specified approved location at the time of the arrival notification (IEATBT04).
  • Immediate Transport: After the border crossing, the transported goods must be brought directly to the approved location. The arrival notification must then be transmitted to the customs administration without delay.
  • Paper Requirement: The document "Customs Border Entry Document" must always be carried in printed paper form during the transport of the goods.
  • Error Handling: If errors occur during the processing of messages, this will be reported back via message "IEATBT99". It is essential to wait for the corresponding confirmation messages ("IEATBT02", "IEATBT05", "IEATBT91").
  • Simultaneous Use: The simultaneous use of a license plate number of a means of transport for several processes in the same direction (exit or entry) is not permitted until the process has been completed.
